399 "DREAD" Eleven Rack Rigs
(798 DREAD Rigs total, if you include the MONO version of each pack)
+ Effect Presets
Eleven Rack Expansion Pack Required!
DREAD Rigs are voiced to be mid or high gain with lots of top end and low end.
They provide a very modern high-gain sound. If you have too much high/low end, you can use a High and Low pass in post, like you are probably already doing.
DREAD rigs use a Green Overdrive, Parametric EQ, Multi-Chorus, Flanger, and Reverb.
Like other rigs before (FURY pack, FUTILE pack, and more) DREAD rigs use a Chorus for more width and a Flanger to add depth and width.
Each rig is laid out in the same logical way.
EXAMPLE:
DREAD DR=B30=57a
or
DREAD DR=B30=57b
or
DREAD DR=B30=57x
or
DREAD DR=B30=57z
or
DREAD DR-B30-57z (for MONO rigs)
First we have the name of the rig pack "DREAD" then the initial for the amp
"DR" is "DUAL RECTIFIER" then the cab "B30" which is the 2X12 B30 cab; then we have the mic "57" is the SM57, and finally a letter, in this case "a"
Each rig is provided in Stereo and Mono.
Separating each item will be a dash (-) or an equal sign (=)
"=" means Stereo, "-" means Mono.
The equal sign (=) represents two signal paths after the amp.
The dash (-) represents one signal path after the amp.
All rigs follow this naming convention. Use the Legend below to understand what each item means.
LEGEND:
The Amp initials are -
M2 = Mesa Mark II c+ ('85 M-2 Lead on Eleven Rack)
DR = Mesa Dual Rectifier ('92 Treadplate Modern on Eleven Rack)
VR= Mesa Dual Rectifier VINTAGE ('92 Treadplate Vintage on Eleven Rack)
BX = Bogner Ecstasy ('97 RB-01b Red on Eleven Rack)
SL = Soldano SLO-100 ('89 SL-100 Drive on Eleven Rack)
SD = Digidesign/Avid Custom Modern Super Overdrive (DC Modern SOD on Eleven Rack)

The cabs used -
B30 = 2X12 B30
C30 = 4X12 Classic 30
65W = 4X12 65 Watt

Pretty much every mic is used on each rig variation to make it easy to search out each possible sound without needing to change things manually. If I don't included it, I felt it would be redundant or didn't sound good in any possible way. But you can dial it up with a couple clicks.
The mic's -
57 = DYN 57
7 = DYN 7
49 = DYN 409
42 = DYN 421
67 = COND 67
87 = COND 87
44 = COND 414
21 = Ribbon 121

MONO RIG or STEREO RIG
You can easily tell apart whether the output is Stereo or Mono by the way each item is separated.
(-) means MONO output
(=) means STEREO output
If you use the Mono rigs (-), you won't get the width that you do from the Stereo rigs (=).
But when recording mono tracks, you may find that the Mono rigs sound better when double tracked - but this is not always the case. So try out each type of rig when recording.
You may find that using a Stereo Rig sounds better for you. You could record one mono track with "Eleven Rig L" and another mono track with "Eleven Rig R" when using a Stereo rig. So just experiment.

Now to the tricky part..... the letters.
Basically, each letter represents if the MIC is ON Axis or OFF Axis, AND also denotes a different Parametric EQ setting.
The letters used will be "a,b,c, and x,y,z"
a, b, or c mean ON AXIS - x, y, or z mean OFF Axis.
Some packs have several EQ settings, like the M2 pack - there are 3 distinct Para EQ settings, so a, b, c, and x, y, z, will be used. But others, like the SOD only have 1 Para EQ setting, so only a, and z are used.
I hope that makes sense! "a" will always be ON Axis and the first EQ setting.
If there are only 2 EQ settings then a, b, and x, z will be used.
"b" is the second or last EQ setting and ON Axis, "x" is the first EQ setting and OFF Axis, "z" is the second or last EQ setting and OFF Axis.
The M2 pack is the only one that has 3 EQ settings, so in that case
"a" is ON Axis 1st EQ, "b" is ON Axis 2nd EQ, "c" is ON Axis 3rd EQ
"x" is OFF Axis 1st EQ, "y" is OFF Axis 2nd EQ, "z" is OFF Axis 3rd EQ.
And for example, the SOD has 1 EQ setting, so "a" is the only EQ setting and ON Axis, "z" is the only EQ setting and OFF Axis.
Understand? I hope so....
Almost every possible configuration is included, but some were not for various reasons. So if I don't include the exact mic position, just manually flip it.

EFFECT PRESETS
Included is a GREEN Overdrive preset that was used for each Amp. These were included to make it easy to get back after some tweaking. Or use the M2 setting on the XTC, or the Dual Rec on the SOD ect....
________________
There are 3 Multi-Chorus presets included.
1-Benoni DREAD MC Width 75 3-1
2-Benoni DREAD MC Width 75 6-2
3-Benoni DREAD MC Width 100 6-3
"75" or "100" is the WIDTH setting, "3" or "6" is the voice setting.
#1 is the setting used on every rig. Change it to #2 or #3 for more width, or, if you have the FURY pack, you can use those as well.
You can also adjust to taste, like maybe you want 85 width and 3 voices ect.....
___________________
No Flanger presets included. Get those from the FURY pack. #4 is the setting that was used for each rig. If you have the FURY pack, you can try each of those out as well.

Parametric EQ Presets
These correspond to the letters (a,b,c - x,y,z)
"01" corresponds with "a" and "x" OR "z" if there is only one pEQ setting.
"02" corresponds with "b" and "y" OR "z" if the pack has two pEQ settings
"03" corresponds with "c" and "z" (only the M2 pack has 3 settings)
Also some EQ settings have slightly different versions, so you will also see some "v.1, v.2, v.3, ect..." as well with the same 01, 02, or 03.
THE PARAMETRIC EQ and Low End:
There will be a HP12 on each EQ setting, but because the filter does not drop straight off if you use a higher Q setting, I use the High Pass to create resonance in the low end. If there is too much bass, you can simply dial the Q lower and the bass will drop off. If there is not enough bone shaking bass, dial it up.
For example if I have too much bass and the HP12 is set on 4.9 Q, then I dial it down to 3.7 for example. If I want more resonance, then I dial it up to 5.4 or more ect....
These EQ settings, along with the Green Overdrive can create fizz. You can deal with this by tweaking parameters like maybe PRESENCE or Treble, or if you are recording it would probably be easier to just use a High Pass and Low Pass to deal with the extra high end and low end so it sits better in your mix.
DON'T try to dial out all detectable fizz, you will just drive yourself crazy and once its in a mix with cymbals cracking, you won't hear it anyway. Just dial it down enough to sit well in a full mix, or don't if it's not bothersome.

Tweak the rigs as you wish. Try turning thing ON or OFF, like the GREEN OD or Reverb.
Adjust GAIN/DRIVE as you wish.
If you are playing chunky riffs, you may want to raise the GATE so it cuts off sooner, or if recording, you could use a Gate plugin or manually edit the audio to cut off exactly when needed.
Most of all, ENJOY! I hope you can find a few rig in this pack that will work for you.
