216 WAR Eleven Rack Rigs

216 "WAR" Eleven Rack Rigs

Eleven Rack Expansion Pack Required!

WAR rigs are RAW rigs, with "war" being an anagram for "raw". Why not just call them "RAW" - well, it just didn't sound "metal" enough. ;)

WAR rigs are different than other packs. They were made to get back to a simpler setup, just an amp, cab, and mic. All effects are bypassed by default, though, all effects do have a basic setting already applied. All rigs are setup in the same basic way:

Phaser>Green DIST>AMP/CAB/MIC>Flanger>Multi-Chorus>Delay>Reverb

Only the AMP/CAB/MIC will be active by default.

Unlike all other packs, WAR rigs are set to be MONO through the whole path, just like you would have by placing one mic on a guitar cab. So if you play these rigs in standalone through headphones or a Stereo Track in Pro Tools, they won't sound as impressive as an "A is A" rig ect.... However, try them in a mix and they should set pretty well with minimal tweaking. Try recording one pass on a mono track, pan full Left, then record another pass on another mono track and pan full Right - this is the technique you should be using with most guitar tracks whether the output is stereo
or mono, of course it all depends on the track, but it's a general rule.

WAR rigs use 6 different amps and almost all cabs and mics. Each amp will have a preset with several different cabs and different mics on each cab.

This was done to minimize how much tweaking needed to be done. For example if you load "WAR-M2 65W 7N" but you would like to see what this amp sounds like with a Classic 30 cab and Dyn 57 mic OFF Axis, you could take the time to switch those settings, which is easy enough, OR simply scroll to the rig with those exact settings which would be "WAR-M2 C30 57F"

By having each rig set in this way its easy to call up exact equipment presets, then you can tweak from there.

WAR rigs are laid out and named in a logical, easy to understand manner. First you have the Rig Pack name which would be "WAR" then you have the initials of the amp, then the cab, then the mic and position - some rigs will have a "b" after them, meaning that it is a SECOND amp eq/tone setting using the same equipment as another rig, this is done mainly for different MID settings.

For an example "WAR-DR G20 7F" means we are using a Treadplate (Dual Rectifier) amp, 4X12 Green 20 Watt cab, Dyn 7 mic OFF Axis.

Another example "WAR-OD B30 67F" would be the Digidesign/Avid Custom Modern Overdrive amp, 2X12 B30 cab, COND 67 mic OFF Axis.

Another example  "WAR-BX C30 57N" would be the RB-01b amp which is based on a Bogner Ecstasy (Bogner XTC=BX), a 4X12 Classic 30 cab, and the Dyn 57 mic ON Axis.

I won't go through every naming convention, but some of the basics are:

After the mic number will be an "F" or "N"

"F" means the mic is currently OFF Axis, "N" means the mic is currently ON Axis.

The cabs and mic initials are pretty easy to figure out on your own.

The Amp initials are -

M2 = Mesa Mark II c+ ('85 M-2 Lead on Eleven Rack)

DR = Mesa Dual Rectifier ('92 Treadplate Modern on Eleven Rack)

BX = Bogner Ecstasy ('97 RB-01b Red on Eleven Rack)

SL = Soldano SLO-100 ('89 SL-100 Drive on Eleven Rack)

SO = Digidesign/Avid Custom Modern Super Overdrive (DC Modern SOD on Eleven Rack)

OD = Digidesign/Avid Custom Modern Overdrive (DC Modern Overdrive on Eleven Rack)

TWEAK THE SETTINGS, just like you would a real amp. Think of WAR rigs as an analog to a real
amp and cab that is mic'd. Imagine a room filled with multiples of the same amp on different cabs all with different mics. First you plug-in to a Dual Rec with a 4X12 Classic 30 cab being recorded with a Dyn 421 mic, if you don't like the tone move on to the next stack, now you plug-in to a Dual Rec with a 2X12 Bogner Cab being recorded with a Dyn 57 mic, ect.... Every time you use the scroll knob to go to a different rig, it's like you are stepping up to a new half-stack.

Since there are 216 rigs and the Eleven Rack only has 104 User Rig spaces, the rigs are split up into 3 folders, each with its own .XML so you can use Load All Rigs from Computer.

The 3 folders are:

57 WAR Rigs - Modern OD and Modern SOD

69 WAR Rigs - SLO and XTC

90 WAR Rigs - M2 and Treadplate
